Willow Furniture, variably called Rustic Furniture, Bentwood Furniture, or
Twig Furniture is an old tradition.Supple willow branches that bend around solid frames of alder, maple or various other harder woods create fluid and graceful lines on a strong foundation.

Building both interesting and COMFORTABLE furniture with these materials is,
however, a challenge. The artist has collaborated over the past 15 years
with interior design professionals to produce a set of furniture that
provides both contemporary comfort and rustice presence. An interlocking
framework and proven nailing patterns allow for an extremely strong
construction, and a comfortable sitting experience. The chairs and couches
are adjusted in seat height for pillows, which may be added later, giving
the seats that "just right" feel.

The finish of the furniture is a durable 2-coat clear matte enamel spray.
Furniture color ages and deepens as time passes. Seasonal cutting of
materials may result, initially, in very green chairs, tables and other side
furniture, but the final tone deepens to a reddish-brown-mahogany color
over 4-6 months. Accents on tables and other side furniture are often made
with materials,, such as stone or slate, which accentuate and reflect the
beautiful natural colors of the woods used.

Custom projects are welcomed by Willowartistree and may be arranged by
consultation with the artist.
